We booked this add-on package with Virgin Voyages when we were going on our honeymoon cruise and in this blog post we will give you the low down of adding the splash of romance package.
We will share what our experience was using the package, if it was worth the money, things that we liked about it and things that we didn’t!

What is the Splash of Romance Package?
In a nutshell, this is an additional package that you can purchase from Virgin Voyages to enhance your cruise experience. It costs $250 to add on and comes with many benefits such as priority boarding, spa passes, champagne and more. We’ll outline all the benefits in the next section so make sure to read on!
Even though the name of the add-on heavily signifies that it is a package for couples, that is not the case and you can purchase this package even if you’re just friends sharing a cabin. It is for use for 2 people sharing a cabin with plenty of amazing benefits to make your Virgin Voyages experience even better!
What is included in Virgin Voyages’ Splash of Romance Package?
There are a lot of perks to purchasing the Virgin Voyages Splash of Romance package. Below we’ve listed all the perks that are included and then below that we’ve broken them down with a bit more detail so you can decide whether this is something that you’d benefit from purchasing.

These benefits are well worth the money in our opinion but below we’ve broken down exactly what each benefit entails so that you can weigh up whether this is worthwhile for you & your partner!
👑 Priority Boarding
This was one of our favourite perks of the Splash of Romance package because it made our life so much easier. When we were due to embark on the ship, we were escorted past a long queue of people and taken to the cruise check-in area.
It’s safe to say that we felt like true VIPs when this was happening. We got to the desk and the staff were absolutely phenomenal and so welcoming. It was a great warm welcome to our cruising adventure!
🍫 Sultry Bites
This is a lovely little perk included on the cruise. Every other day, you will have small bites delivered to your cabin for you to indulge in.
We had a couple different treats delivered that we absolutely loved! Don’t get us wrong, there were a couple that weren’t quite our taste but we saw it as a bonus instead of one of the main reasons for purchasing the package.
🥤 Daily Curated Cold-pressed juices Every Morning
If we are being honest, this is the only part of the Splash of Romance package that we wasn’t that impressed with. Cold-Pressed Juices were available to us each day from the bar. We tried two of the different juices and we just didn’t like them at all.
Even though we’ve purchased the romance package for our next cruise, this isn’t a perk that we would plan to use again unless it changed. We were expecting something like fresh orange juice or smoothie-type concoctions. Maybe that was us being naive but they did end up being juices from a cold-pressed bag and just wasn’t what we were expecting.
By all means, if you purchase Virgin Voyages Romance Package then give them a go but it wasn’t for us!
🍾 Shake for Champagne
In honesty, this was one of the main reasons why we decided to purchase the Splash for Romance package!
You may have already seen it but in the Virgin Voyages app, you can select ‘Shake for Champagne’ and this will be delivered to you!
The champagne is a bottle of Moet so it’s a great brand as well and will cost you around $95 if purchased separately so this is a great perk of the Splash of Romance package!

💆🏼♀️ 3-Hour Spa Pass
Another reason that we were quite intrigued to try the Splash of Romance package is to give the Spa a try!
We love a spa day but we never really justify the cost of spa treatments in complete honesty. With this package, this was a perfect excuse to use the spa without a high price!
We personally really enjoyed the spa and with the Virgin Voyages Romance package you will have access to the spa included and a complimentary mud mask. If you want to take part in any of the treatments then this would be an additional charge.
With the Splash of Romance package you can access the swimming pool, hot tubs, cold tubs, steam room, mud room, sauna and salt room.
For us, this was enough and we felt so much more relaxed and rejuvenated. However, after using the spa on our last Virgin Voyages, we might be looking at purchasing some treatments as we honestly felt so pampered.
We decided to use the spa pass on the same day as Scarlet Night because we wanted to be our best selves for the social event of the ship!
🥂 Exclusive Sail Away Hour
This was something that we were quite excited about with the Splash of Romance package but it wasn’t the main reason we purchased the pass. However, this ended up being a highlight for us and was such a lovely hour!
We were invited to this exclusive acoustic hour and there were only a selection of people. We sat down and listened to some beautiful acoustic music and drinks were flowing. It was just such a lovely way to enjoy our cruise!
Is the Splash of Romance Package for you?
The Splash of Romance package is not for everyone that’s for sure. You don’t need to be a couple to purchase the package, just two people sharing a cabin.
In our opinion, if you tick at least 3-4 of the boxes below then it is safe to say that this is a package that you should add onto your Virgin Voyages cruising experience.
If you tick all of the boxes then you are definitely going to get a lot of benefit and use out of the package.

Our Experience Using the Splash of Romance Package
If you’ve read through most of this article then you can probably already guess that we were really impressed with the Splash of Romance package especially because we’ve already added it onto our cruise for next year. However, we want to share with you things that we liked about the package and things that we feel could be improved.
Embarkation Time
Our first introduction to the perks of the Splash of Romance package was the priority boarding available on embarkation day. Prior to arriving in Barcelona, we had spent 6 days in Seville and as amazing as it was, we were exhausted from lots of sightseeing. We then arrived in Barcelona and had a lot of time to spare but the heavens had opened! We were soaked, tired and in desperate need of a shower!
Come embarkation time, we arrived via an Uber and we asked a member of the Virgin Voyages staff where we needed to go to embark. We were ushered through past hundreds of people to a check-in desk where we were presented with our Virgin Voyages wristband.
It was such a smooth, easy process that we knew that the package was worth the money just for this benefit alone!
Fresh Juice Anyone?
On the first morning, we were meant to be arriving in Toulon but the weather was quite bad leaving Barcelona so we were unable to arrive at the port.
Due to this, we got our much-needed lie-in after an exhausting week exploring elsewhere. When we woke up Liam wandered off to get some food to bring back to the room and try our Cold-Pressed Juice perk!
Sultry Bites
On the second day of our cruise, we went out and we were off exploring. We return to our cabin with a plate with cute little truffles.
A few days later, we had another delivery with some rose gold macaroons, these were absolutely delicious and by far Amy’s favourite of the sultry bites delivered!
Whilst this shouldn’t be the main reason you purchase the Splash of Romance, this was a lovely little perk that made our cruise that little bit more enjoyable!
Exclusive Sail Away Party
On one of the days when we were leaving the port, we were invited to an exclusive Splash of Romance sail away party. We were told the date for this prior to embarking on the ship and we were really excited to see what it entailed.
We arrived at the sail away party and rose champagne was on offer alongside various different cocktails. We got to enjoy some of the most beautiful music and regularly filled drinks which really made it worthwhile.
If you purchase the Splash of Romance package then we highly recommend making sure you’re free to attend this event!
3-Hour Spa Pass
On the day of Scarlet Night, we knew that we needed some pampering to get prepared for the exciting night we had in store! We headed to the Redemption Spa on board as we had already pre-booked our slot and then the receptionist gave us our robes, showed us to our locker and we got changed.
We were then given our mud masks and shown into the spa. We caked ourselves in the mud and sat in the mud room before washing it off. We then tried out all the different rooms in the spa and felt the toxins of the amount of alcohol we had drunk during our honeymoon drain away!
We had the 3-hour pass and we used about 2.5 hours of this and in honesty we would have spent much longer if it weren’t for the fact that we wanted to get ready for Scarlet Night.
Shake for Champagne Time!
One of the main reasons we purchased the package was because Amy has learnt about Virgin Voyages a lot through her job as a travel agent and she desperately wanted to try the Shake for Champagne service but didn’t want to pay $95 on it!
On Scarlet Night, we decided to make use of this service because we knew that it was likely we were going to drink a bit more than normal this evening! Whilst we were getting ready, as promised a bottle of Moet turned up at our cabin door in impeccable timing and Amy was thrilled to bits! If you’re a champagne drinker then this is just one of the reasons why you should purchase the Splash of Romance package.
Other Add-Ons with Virgin Voyages
Splash for Your Bash – This is similar to the Splash of Romance package but it is purely for birthday celebrations.This includes a bottomless brunch for two at either the Wake or Razzle Dazzle, a dinner party with curated beverages and treat yourself items, a bottle of Moet & Chandon!
Bar Tab – As Virgin Voyages operates differently to traditional cruising, instead of a drinks package you would purchase bar tab instead which is used as currency for purchasing alcoholic and speciality drinks on board. If you purchase your bar tab in advance to the cruise the Virgin Voyages will top this up with extra bar tab.

Premium Wi-Fi – You can purchase upgraded internet whilst you’re on the ship. For us, the Wi-Fi that is included with your cruise fare is absolutely fine so we didn’t and won’t be upgrading our Wi-Fi.
Beer & Cocktail Buckets – You can purchase beer & cocktail buckets to be delivered to you for a cheaper cost. Drink selections include Corona, Heineken, Michelob, Moscow Mules and Paloma.
Champagne Delivery – You can also pre-book for champagne to be delivered to your cabin. However, if you’ve got the Splash of Romance package, you will already have one of these included.
Champagne Dreams & Chocolate Wishes – Pre-Order bubbles & signature chocolate truffles to your cabin. A perfect surprise to celebrate a special occasion with your loved one.
Choco Courier – Don’t drink? Just get some delicious signature chocolate truffles delivered. A sweet and simple way to tell someone you love them!
Sparkling Non-Alc Sips & Chocolate – If you still fancy some bubbly but alcohol is not for you then this is a perfect package for something a bit naughty but nice!
Blooms with a View – Pre-Order some beautiful flowers to be delivered. This is a lovely surprise to celebrate a special occasion or just to let someone know you love them!
Blooms & Bubbles – Just flowers not going to cut it? Get some cheeky bubbles to be delivered instead!
Chocolates & Fresh Florals – Order some roses and chocolates to your cabin, this is a lovely surprise especially for an occasion like Valentine’s Day or an Anniversary.
Non-Alcoholic Bubbly & Blooms – You don’t have to drink alcohol to have champagne on this ship. This is a lovely add-on to celebrate special occasions.
Sweets, Bubbles & Blooms – Get the beautiful trio delivered to your cabin and surprise your loved one when embarking on the ship!
Sweets, Sips & Blooms – Champagne not your style? Try a bottle of wine, chocolate and a bouquet of roses to make your day even more special!
Is the Splash of Romance Package Worth It?
We may have made it quite obvious in this blog post but in our opinion, yes, Virgin Voyages’ Splash of Romance package is absolutely worth the money!
Of course, it depends on you and what you would benefit from with the package. For us, we made use of everything except the juices which weren’t really a huge loss so it was completely worth the money.
The spa pass alone is worth between $59-$79 per person depending on the day you choose to use it and the bottle of Moet alone is worth $95 so even with these two perks, you’re benefitting from adding on this additional package.
There is a limit of only 250 packages to be added on per cruise so make sure you’re quick if you think you want to add this on! If it’s your first Virgin Voyages cruise then we definitely think that you should experience your first one in style and enjoy the additional benefits the Splash of Romance package has to offer. Besides it’s only $250 for the cabin so why not feel like a VIP?
