Virgin Voyages are pretty new when it comes to cruising so we wanted to share an honest Scarlet Lady review and our opinion on sailing with Virgin Voyages.

When we were planning our wedding, we kept thinking what epic trip are we going to do for our honeymoon… Amy works as a travel agent and regularly sells cabins on different Virgin Voyages ships so she knows a lot about the ships and absolutely fell in love with them.

We decided that this was the ultimate way to start out married life together by seeing a few different destinations and feeling we’re on top of the world!

Before we joined the Scarlet Lady in Barcelona, we spent an incredible few days in Seville to start off our honeymoon before flying to Barcelona to embark on the ship and what a surprise we were in for!

When we got on the ship, it was surreal for Amy because she was finally seeing one of the ships that she talks so much about when she’s working and it is safe to say that it lived up to the expectation.

However, there’s plenty of things that you need to know before joining your first Virgin Voyages and this guide spills the beans on one of the most talked about cruises on TikTok!

In this blog post, we share not just our personal opinion about sailing with Virgin Voyages but some of the best tips before sailing with them and an insight into what it’s like onboard the Scarlet Lady.

Embarkation onto the Scarlet Lady

We decided to pick the Irresistible Med itinerary which took place on Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady and embarkation was from Barcelona.

Before we arrived in Barcelona, we started off our honeymoon by spending a wonderful amount of time exploring Seville. We then took a flight from Seville to Barcelona early in the morning to make sure that we arrived in plenty of time for the cruise because there was no way we were risking missing the embarkation.

What we didn’t plan for is that after we dropped our bags at a holding place and started doing a little sightseeing of hidden gems in Barcelona, the heavens opened and we got caught in an awful rainstorm!

Never fear though, we decided every time it would downpour that we would stop off at a bar for a pint ready for the sail away party on the Scarlet Lady. We had a great day in Barcelona and got to do lots of sightseeing despite the terrible weather.

When it came to embarkation time, we picked up our bags and for ease, we got an uber to the cruise terminal for our allotted embarkation time.

The sun came out just before we departed Barcelona and embarked on the Scarlet Lady

The only thing we are very grateful for is that we decided to purchase the Splash of Romance package beforehand. This meant that when we started our embarkation we had priority boarding. Honestly, there was no better feeling than walking past 100’s of people queuing to go through embarkation.

We share more about the Splash of Romance package later in this Scarlet Lady review but in short, the priority boarding alone made it worthwhile for us.

When we went through the checks, we were given our very own Virgin Voyages bands which serve as your card, passport and identity all in one. These are actually made out of recyclable material and are a great keepsake to take home with you.

Overall, the embarkation process was easy and painless but we couldn’t say if that was just because we had the priority boarding or not but the staff members were amazing greeting you onto the ship!

Cabins on the Scarlet Lady

Like any cruise ship there are multiple different cabin types available depending on the budget that you have to spend. The cheapest cabin is an inside cabin which are great for if you have a low budget or you’re not sure if you’re going to like cruising and want to try it out.

Next you will have an oceanview cabin which has a porthole or window where you can watch the world go by as you sail from port to port.

We stayed in a balcony cabin which we’re really glad we chose because it was amazing to sit out and watch the waves lap as we cruised along. On the balcony is a hand-woven hammock by Yellow Leaf which is perfect for relaxing and getting comfy.

Now if you really do have the budget you might want to splash out on the Rockstar Quarters. There are two different branches of suites you can get in the Rockstar Quarters.

The first option is a Rockstar Suite which is a beautiful suite that comes with access to the private Richard Branson’s rooftop on the ship. This also gives you early bookings and private access to restaurants, on board experiences and off shore excursions as well.

Finally you have the Mega Rockstar suites which of course includes the same amenities as the Rockstar Suites but also includes a daily bar tab, daily spa access, bottomless in room bar and so much more. Not to mention a gorgeous suite with plenty of space to enjoy which even includes a soaking tub, jacuzzi and a very large ‘balcony’ that may as well be known as a courtyard!

All the cabins are absolutely gorgeous, fitted with mood lighting, tablets with streaming apps, rainfall showers and plenty of other tech to make your cruise a very comfortable stay.

Bars & Restaurants on the Ship

One of the main parts about this Scarlet Lady review is the type of food that you can have on the cruise. This image shows some of the delicious skewers in Gunbae

One of the things that makes Virgin Voyages so unique is that it doesn’t have traditional cruise dining. Instead of buffet dining, you will be able to choose from around 20+ eateries all included with your cruise no matter which cabin you purchase.

Every single one of these restaurants are included within the cruise but there are some items on the menu that you can upgrade for if you wish to do so.

Virgin Voyages are almost all-inclusive with all your food and soft drinks included, the only thing that you need to consider purchasing separately is alcohol or any speciality food or drinks.

If you’re planning on drinking alcohol then you can purchase what is called a bar tab instead of a drinks package like you would on a traditional cruise. This way you only purchase the amount of drinks you think you’re going to drink.

We recommend purchasing your bar tab on the app prior to saving because Virgin Voyages always tops up your bar tab with an additional amount. For example, if you purchase a $300 bar tab then Virgin Voyages will give you $350 worth instead.

This bar tab can be used at any of the bars and restaurants throughout the ship. Below, we’ll share a sample of some of the best bars and restaurants on the ship and a bit more about each option too in our opinion.

Restaurants

Below you will find a selection of just some of the restaurants available on the Scarlet Lady and what we thought in each restaurant. These are the restaurants which become available to pre-book on the Virgin Voyages app and are what would be considered as ‘speciality restaurants’ on any other cruise ship. However, you do not need to pay to dine at these restaurants!

The Wake

Let’s start with our FAVOURITE restaurant on the ship because why not start with the best? The Wake is a classy steak and seafood restaurant that will leave you wanting more.

In our relationship, Liam is an absolute carnivore whereas Amy usually favours veggies over meat. However, in this case, Amy fell in love with steak despite not having much of a taste for it before.

Fresh, delicious bread is brought to the table with garlic butter whilst you decide on your meal. For starters Amy had the clam chowder based on a recommendation by the staff which was absolutely delicious! Liam decided on the wedge salad (just because he’s not huge on seafood!) which he also thoroughly enjoyed.

Delicious fresh bread at the Wake restaurant on the Scarlet Lady

For the main course you can choose various different meats from the grill, predominantly different variations of steak. You can also choose as many sides as you wish and which sauce you’d like to accompany your meal.

You will see in this Scarlet Lady review that the Wake is easily our favourite restaurant on Virgin Voyages. This image shows Liam's steak that he ordered on the cruise.

Amy chose the Hanger Steak and Liam chose the New York Strip. To put into perspective how tasty they both were, we visited the restaurant for the second time with intentions to try something different and ordered the exact same thing!

With the sides, we got to try all of them as we visited the Wake twice but our favourites had to be the twice-baked potato, cream spinach and asparagus!

Now onto dessert, we thought that we were about to burst at this point but we’re so glad that we managed our way through to dessert. With a unique twist on a lemon cheesecake and a chocolate torte, our bellies were full and taste buds were very happy indeed!

In our opinion, when you’re planning on visiting the Scarlet Lady, we recommend booking into this restaurant at least twice. You can also book brunch at the Wake too which we didn’t have a chance to do but we know it’s on our list for our next cruise!

Lemon Cheesecake at the wake restaurant.

Razzle Dazzle

Razzle Dazzle is the vegan restaurant on the ship but some of the reviews of it have been quite negative. Considering Liam is quite a meat-eater, we didn’t want to commit having dinner here as there wasn’t much on the menu that he would enjoy.

Whilst it is a predominantly vegan restaurant there are also some ‘naughty bits’ on the menu for anyone accompanying their vegan partner or friends so that there is something for everyone.

Razzle Dazzle restaurant before it was converted to the new Lucky Lotus by Razzle Dazzle

We ended up having brunch at Razzle Dazzle and it was quite nice but couldn’t say it made it to the top of our list. As there has been a lot of feedback about the Razzle Dazzle restaurants, it has been converted into a Chinese inspired restaurant on the Scarlet Lady instead now so we’re quite intrigued to give it another try after this change.

On the Brilliant Lady, they have changed the Razzle Dazzle menu to be Spanish inspired and from our knowledge the Valiant Lady & Resilient Lady is still vegan inspired but we believe these will eventually be changed too!

If you’ve tried the Lucky Lotus by Razzle Dazzle on the Scarlet Lady since it’s been launched then please let us know how it was so that we can help other Virgin Voyagers!

Pink Agave

This Mexican inspired restaurant was another favourite of ours and in particular their extensive Mezcal and Tequila library is something to marvel at!

Amy got to try the Cochinita Pibil tacos and they were really yummy with plenty of flavour. You also got nachos and guacamole for the table and we asked for these to be refilled a few times which were super yummy.

The restaurant itself is absolutely stunning and you should definitely book into this restaurant at least once whilst on the Scarlet Lady.

The only downfall for us is that we felt there wasn’t enough authentic Mexican food but that might be because Amy is a little bit of a snob when it comes to Mexico because she spent so long backpacking there.

However, with this in mind that can’t be taken away from the incredible Mezcal library as this is a Mexican spirit that often gets overlooked so it’s safe to say Amy was very impressed with this.

Gunbae

This is another unique restaurant with Korean food and another must visit whilst on the Scarlet Lady. When you visit this restaurant it is possible that you may not be seated with just your party depending on how many people you’re travelling with.

As we were travelling as a couple, we were seated with 3 other couples around our table which was a really great sociable experience. Your table will have a bbq in the middle of the table with an extractor fan above because your meat and seafood is cooked right in front of you!

When eating at Gunbae the staff will come round and teach you Korean drinking games that you can partake in with your table which is a really unique twist.

The food is absolutely incredible at this restaurant and in our experience we found that because our table ordered so much food, you got an opportunity to try a little bit of everything which is always a bonus!

Amy & Liam at the Gunbae restaurant on Scarlet Lady

The Galley

Full English breakfast ordered from the Galley.

The Galley is a really interesting food hall with lots of different food stations so if you don’t know what you feel like eating or you both want different food types, this is the place to go.

It is safe to say that we really took advantage of the excellent food in the Galley including getting a full English breakfast at 3am after hitting Ibiza town! It is safe to say that is exactly what the doctor ordered to prevent a hangover the following morning…

Another highlight for us was the dessert station that served so many delicious goodies. There was one day where we were at sea and we felt exhausted so we went to the dessert station, ordered 2 of every dessert and sat in our bed watching the Good Place on Netflix. Honestly, it was a perfect evening for us!

One of Amy’s favourite stations was the taco station where they served al pastor tacos but the only downfall with this is that it is only open during certain hours of the day.

The main point is no matter what food you’re craving, when you’re on the Scarlet Lady, you will be completely satisfied!

Bars

There are multiple bars on the ship and some even serve a small selection of food too. Our personal favourite was the bar at the Social Club. We talk about this area a bit more later in this blog post but we regularly ordered drinks from here including alcoholic milkshakes! They also served really good hot dogs, chicken wings and some sweet bites to eat as well.

In the evening, we preferred to hang around the bar On the Rocks because it was a really chilled place to be and often this is where you will find the live music too.

Another place we were often found was at the Casino Bar as we really enjoyed the atmosphere in the casino and for us it was close to the smoking area as well (we do enjoy a social smoke). Not just that but it’s a cool setting even if you’re not planning to do any gambling and just want to watch the fun.

The onboard nightclub, The Manor is another great spot to have a few drinks and this is often where a lot of the entertainment is held and where you will see the Instagram photos with all the white lighted mirrors.

If you’re wanting to feel posh for the evening then the Sip Lounge is a great place to hang out where you can enjoy a selection of champagne and caviar. However, if you’re wanting more Mediterranean vibes then the Dock House is a cool place to hang out and they offer ‘Opa hour’ which is Greek inspired hour with delicious food!

The Loose Cannon drinks menu

Overall there are around 14 different bars to enjoy a drink or two if you’re not including Richard Branson’s rooftop which is exclusive to those that are staying in one of the Rockstar Suites. All of the bars have their own unique twist from Irish Pub themes to Mediterranean style that there is something to suit everyone!

Entertainment on the Scarlet Lady

One of the things we found cruising on the Scarlet Lady is that there wer so many different activities and entertainment available that we just wanted to try and do it all. When we were cruising, we couldn’t get into one of the ports due to weather and we were actually grateful for this as it gave us the opportunity to explore the ship and everything it had to offer!

Casino

Craps table at the Scarlet Lady Casino on Virgin Voyages.

Like most cruise ships, there is an incredible casino on board the Scarlet Lady with Blackjack, Roulette, Poker, Slot Machines & Craps Tables.

We actually ended up spending quite a bit of time in the casino whilst we were on board which surprised us as at home we don’t really gamble at all.

With all of the tables, the dealers will teach you how to play the different games and give you pointers so that if you’re planning to visit somewhere like Vegas, you will have it down!

We got shown how to play Craps and we ended up really enjoying it and came off the ship $90 up! With that being said, if you are planning to use the Casino, we recommend that you get your dollars at home before embarking on the ship as the ATM charges are quite expensive!

If you do decide to use the Casino, remember to gamble responsibly and not overdo it!

Shows

There are so many different shows available on Virgin Voyages that it is difficult to narrow it down on what you want to see as it’s truly not possible to do it all.

From drag shows, acrobatics, theatre performances, dance shows and so much more you’ll be spoilt for choice. We managed to get to some of the events whilst we were there including one of the drag shows. We enjoyed our time there but we found that the humour wasn’t to our personal taste but it was still a good bit of fun!

On our next voyage we definitely want to see the acrobatics and spend a bit more time going to more of the shows we just found we were really distracted with everything else that we weren’t organised enough to make it on time!

Live Music & DJ’s

We’re huge music fans so this was a great element of the cruise for us. We got to enjoy an amazing DJ performance from a Belizean DJ, Tash Bowden. This was a great performance outside and a perfect way to party the day away in the sun whilst cruising.

Another highlight for us was some of the live musicians that were performing whilst on the ship but to be fair, what can you expect from a ship launched by Richard Branson?

There was a great live performance from the Honey Hounds also who we had never heard of before but after the cruise we ended up following some of their music. We enjoyed it that much!

There is live music throughout the ship at different times of the day and you can use the app on the ship to see what is happening where.

The Honey Hounds on Scarlet Lady

As part of the splash of romance package, one of the highlights for us was enjoying a beautiful acoustic hour as well with a singer called Selkii which was absolutely beautiful!

The one thing we liked about the music on Virgin Voyages is that no matter what your music taste is, there’s a little bit of everything and it introduces you to musicians you may not have heard of before!

Quizzes & Games

Being quite competitive, we actually took part in quite a few of the quizzes and games whilst we were on the Scarlet Lady. Don’t get us wrong we weren’t particularly good at it but we had a great time.

The quizzes were really good fun and they often put up prizes for whoever wins. We caught wind of a gameshow quiz at one point which sounded like great fun but we missed it starting so we know we’ll be doing that on our next voyage.

At one point, we even took part in a puzzle competition! Not something we’d usually do but when on Virgin Voyages, why not?

Collection of board games available at the Social Club

At home, we tend to play a lot of board games so we loved that around the Social Club there were so many different board games that you could borrow. There were even shuffleboard tables and a hidden retro arcade at the back too!

You can also take part in Bingo which we would have loved to have joined in but we personally found the tickets quite expensive but that may just be us as we’re used to travelling on a budget!

For us, the only thing that is missing is a pool table and a dart board!

Pyjama Party

One of the main event on the Virgin Voyages fleet is the Pyjama Party and it is safe to say that everyone dresses for the occasion! From wacky onesies, sexy PJs and comfy nightwear, this is truly an event to look forward to.

Especially so for females because let’s face it, it’s nice to go to an event where your feet are not killing you from your heels at the end of the night!

This was probably one of our favourite evenings on the ship because the music was just amazing and really to our taste. From R&B to pop music, we were jumping and partying the night away!

Make sure to bring some awesome PJs for this party and in honesty, the crazier, the better!

Amy and Liam dressed up in their PJs for the Pyjama Party

Scarlet Night

Now for the main event on a Virgin Voyages ship and where better to experience it than on the Scarlet Lady itself!

Amy, Liam and their friend Sam dressed up all in red for Scarlet Night

This is a night where everyone gets dressed up in red and it gets wild. The festivities actually start early in the afternoon and you can visit the glitter and face paint stations. It’s often quite busy so make sure to get there early.

Throughout the ship, you will be constantly looking around in wonder with something different happening in each room.

Before getting on your Virgin Voyages, make sure to pack something red and just like the PJ party, the crazier, the better! You will see some very flamboyant red attire throughout the ship on the ship as you party the night away.

Usually the Scarlet Night is held on the pool deck but for us the weather was quite bad so it started there but actually ended in the manor. All in all, it was an amazing night but we have our next Virgin Voyages booked for September 2026 on the Brilliant Lady and we’re looking forward to experiencing what Scarlet Night is usually like!

Amenities & Shops on board

Whatever you’re looking for on your cruise, it’s safe to say that you’ll most likely find it on Virgin Voyages. Whether you’re looking to get your hair cut or styled, purchase a new wardrobe or maybe even feel brave enough to get a tattoo or piercing, they’ve got you covered!

We’re broke bitches so it’s safe to say that we didn’t really purchase anything whilst on the ship but that’s not to say that quite a few things did catch our eye. In particular, the tattoos looked incredible so it’s definitely worth checking out.

There are shops for jewellery, souvenirs, a MAC boutique, Vinyl store duty free store and sunglasses.

We actually loved some of the quirky items in the stores including lots of travel memorabilia. If you’ve forgotten to purchase something for Scarlet Night then you will find plenty of stuff in the shop the day before but we would recommend trying to bring what you need with you.

Vinyl Shop onboard the Scarlet Lady

Ps. Often you find that on the last day or two of the cruise that there will be a sale at some of the shops so if you’re not certain about purchasing something, maybe hold off until the last few days in case it goes on sale!

Using the Virgin Voyages App

Before you head off on an incredible adventure on the Scarlet Lady you will want to make sure that you download the Virgin Voyages app.

The app is great for both prior to boarding and during the cruise with many different useful tools to help make your cruise as smooth as possible. We’ve popped some of the key highlights below:

Live Love Laugh swings in a mirror reflection on the Scarlet Lady

– Adding pre-cruise information – Before sailing, make sure that you upload your photo, emergency contact details, payment card details etc.

– Topping up Bar Tab & Extras – use the app to add on the bar tab. Ideally try to do this before the cruise as you get a bonus bar tab included with each purchase. As well as this, you can also add on extra packages like the Splash of Romance which we used ourselves and review later in this blog post as well as a Splash for Your Bash package etc.

– Booking Shore Excursions – Both prior to embarking on the cruise and during the cruise, you can add on any shore excursions that peaks your interest. Some of these shore excursions get booked really quickly so it’s worth booking them in advance where possible.

– Restaurant Reservations – When you book your cruise with Virgin Voyages, there will be a countdown for when the restaurant reservations get released. We recommend booking in some restaurants as soon as they’re released as they do get booked quickly. You can still do bookings on the ship as they do hold some back but it is first come first served.

– Shake for Champagne – this is one of the coolest features where you can shake your phone and a staff member will arrive with a gorgeous bottle of Moet. You get 1 of these included with the Splash of Romance package!

– Ship Eats – You’ve heard of Just Eat, well, Virgin Voyage have their own food delivery service. There is a delivery fee charge for this unless you order something that you need to pay for such as alcohol so it’s worth doing that just so at least you’re getting something for your money but the food itself is included in the cruise.

– Keeping up to date on events – Whilst you’re on the cruise you will be able to add any events that you want to go to onto your Love List and keep track of what’s happening on board.

Sunset views from Amy & Liam's Balcony Cabin.

– Messaging Ship Friends – if you make friends whilst you’re on board then you will be able to add them as a contact on their app to keep in touch during the cruise.

– Useful Port Information – There are really great guides for each destination that you’re visiting so that you can learn more about the port. This also helps keep yourself right to know what time you need to get back on the boat as well!

Scarlet Lady Irresistible Med Itinerary

When we went on the Scarlet Lady, we joined the Irresistible Med itinerary but it also offers plenty of other itineraries around Europe and the US.

Below we’ve shared the version of the Irresistible Med itinerary that we were on and a little bit about each destination for anyone planning to go on the same itinerary!

  • Barcelona, Spain – we embarked from Barcelona and it is a city that we’ve always loved with plenty of things to do and sightseeing. We’ve got lots of different guides for Barcelona including a 1 day in Barcelona itinerary which is perfect for shore excursions. With Barcelona, we got an uber to the port and on return we actually just walked back into the centre but it is quite easy to get around.
  • Toulon, France – This was our first port that we were due to stop on the Irresistible Med itinerary. However, we had a bad start to the cruise when it came to weather so we couldn’t actually dock in Toulon so unfortunately we can’t offer much advice when it comes to this port.
  • Marina di Carrara, Italy – this was the first port that we arrived into and we must admit, this port is a perfect place to have a balcony cabin and wake up to stunning views. The town itself is quite small and it’s great for a placid walk around. You can get the bus to the train station and then get a train to Pisa from here which we really enjoyed. However, if you’re getting the bus, please note that you can only use 1 card per person and for the train, you need to make sure that you validate your ticket before travelling.
Beautiful views to wake up to when docking into Marina di Carrara
  • Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy – If you’ve not been to Rome before then this port will take you close to the city. When you get off the boat, take the shuttle bus to the train station where you will need to get a train to the centre of Rome itself. It takes around 40 minutes on the train but it’s well worth it. We have a few Rome travel guides to help plan your trip but as we’ve visited a few times, we booked in for a pizza making class and it was a highlight of our time at the ports on the cruise. We then made our way to Civitavecchia itself and thoroughly enjoyed our time in this beautiful port.
  • Ibiza, Spain – This tends to be the port that they use for the overnight stay on the Scarlet Lady Irresistible Med itinerary and what a place to do it! You will arrive closer to the Ibiza Old Town and be able to explore the beautiful sights. We then went back to the boat, got changed and got the bus back to go partying. The boat left quite late the following day so you get to spend a really good amount of time at this port!

Is the Splash of Romance Package Worth It?

In short, yes the Splash of Romance package is absolutely worthwhile! If you’re debating whether to add this to enhance your Virgin Voyages experience then this is definitely one way to do it.

There is a limited number of packages available on each cruise so it’s definitely worth booking in advance. If you’re not certain if it’s for you then here is what is included:

Delicious Rose & White Chocolate macaroons delivered as part of their aphrodisiac bites

Priority Boarding: For us, this was one of the main reasons we purchased the Splash of Romance package. When we were boarding on the cruise, it was so busy and the priority boarding enabled us to skip all the stress and hassle of embarkation and speed right through. This alone was worth the splash of a romance package for us.

Aphrodisiac Bites: Every other day, you will receive lovely little treats in your cabin for you to share such as little cakes and truffles. This was a nice touch but we do wish that this was each day instead of every few days!

3-Hour Spa Access: This was another great perk of the splash of romance package as the spa access can be quite expensive. We used this on our at sea day and we felt so energised and refreshed afterwards. It includes the mud mask and access to the sauna, steam room, salt room and hot / cold plunge pools. Whilst it doesn’t include any treatments, we didn’t personally feel like we needed any. We loved our time at the spa and this is a great inclusion on the package.

Daily Cold Pressed Juices – Every day you can collect a cold pressed juice which is usually classed as a speciality drink so you would need to pay extra for it. In our opinion, this wasn’t worthwhile just because we didn’t enjoy the juices themselves but for someone that is very fitness focused, this could be a little bonus perk for you.

The juice bar where you can get your fresh pressed juices as part of the splash of romance package

– Shake for Champagne – One of the main reasons we purchased the package was that we wanted to try the Shake for Champagne feature on the app. We saved this for the Scarlet Night and were delivered a bottle of Moet which costs around $90 on the ship so as long as you drink champagne, this perk is well-worth the cost of the pass.

Exclusive Sail Away Hour – During the cruise, you will be invited to an exclusive sail away hour only for anyone who has purchased this package. During the sail away hour, all alcohol was included and we had a lovely acoustic singer performing whilst we sailed away. We really enjoyed the hour and it was a lovely romantic setting which was a nice touch for the package to be honest.

In our opinion, we found that the pass was very much worth the value especially for the Shake for Champagne, Priority Boarding, Spa Pass and Sail Away Party.

Amy & Liam's drinks during the exclusive sail away party that was included as part of their Splash of Romance package.

The Splash of Romance package costs $250 (£185 approximately) for two people to add on to your cruise so as long as the perks are things that you would personally use, we would suggest adding this on to enhance your Scarlet Lady cruise experience!

What is Virgin Voyages like for Couples?

We went on the Virgin Voyages for our honeymoon and we had both a romantic cruise and an exciting cruise which is what suits us as people.

There were moments such as the exclusive sail away party which had a really romantic atmosphere that we enjoyed spending time together as a couple. There are also plenty of areas on the ship where you can hide away and be in your own couple bubble.

There is often a lot of feedback about Virgin Voyages being very flamboyant and wild but if that’s not the vibe you’re looking for then you can definitely avoid that.

Amy & Liam dressed up for the evening at the Manor.

We are the type of couple that some days want to just sit and eat a load of desserts in bed watching something on TV and spending time together. Whereas, other days we are quite social and want to party or take part in activities.

For us, we found that it was a great cruise for couples to both enjoy some romantic time together but also have good fun and a laugh!

Useful Tips Before Embarking on Scarlet Lady

– Take dollars onto the ship with you for the Casino instead of withdrawing on board to avoid withdrawal fees.

– Bring something red with you for Scarlet Night and maybe even some glitter or a mask!

– Purchase your bar tab before getting on the ship to get more savings.

– Consider booking through a travel agent to get additional bar tab credit included on your cruise. Virgin Voyages work closely with travel agents and they often have special promotions available. If you’re UK based then feel free to get in touch with Amy to get a price for your next Virgin Voyages as she works for Barrhead Travel in Falkirk!

– Bring awesome pyjamas on the cruise ready for the Pyjama Party!

Delicious blueberry pancakes available at the Galley.

– If you’re travelling as a couple, consider pre-purchasing the Splash of a Romance package to enhance your cruising time!

– Set a reminder for the restaurant release date on the app and get your restaurants booked early. Even if your plans change on the ship, you can always cancel these later.

– Research the ports in advance to make the most of your time in each destination.

– If you’re making your own plans at each port, make sure that you note down the time to be back at the ship! Alternatively, get some shore excursions booked in that are set specifically to be back at the ship on time.

– Have fun and embrace every moment whilst you’re on the beautiful Scarlet Lady!

Our Opinion on the Scarlet Lady Summed Up

After our honeymoon, we knew we have to write up our Scarlet Lady review and share with others what we thought of Virgin Voyages.

Prior to going on this cruise, we always thought that we were the type of people that wouldn’t enjoy a cruise as we’ve always been the backpacking type of couple. However, it is safe to say that Virgin Voyages absolutely blew our mind.

Virgin Voyage running track with the Virgin sign in the background

Even though we couldn’t get into one of the ports on our cruise, we absolutely loved the itinerary and it was great to see different areas and destinations of countries we had already visited.

Whilst we were on the Scarlet Lady, we genuinely felt like we were living the high life and enjoyed every moment of it.

If you’ve never experienced a Virgin Voyages before then this is something that should definitely be on your bucket list and we would recommend it to anyone. For us, the fact that it was adult’s only was appealing enough!

To put it into perspective, we have already booked our next cruise for September 2026 on the Brilliant Lady and we’re really excited to share our review after that cruise too!
